Day of Training for Dyana
I am excited to have found Brian Waltz to be Dyana's initial race trainer. I heard SEVERAL outstanding reviews of Brian before I even contacted him, and in speaking with him I know he is the right trainer to give Dyana a slow start while providing me with an HONEST opinion of her natural ability.
The plan is for Dyana to stay in training with Brian for 60-90 days with key evaluation discussions occurring often. If after 30 days she does not seem to be adapting, she will come home, but if she shows any interest in the daily routine, she will stay for her second 30 days. At the end of 60 days if she shows some promise as a racehorse, she will stay for an extra 30 days. If she seems to lack natural ability or just seems to need a break, she will come home after 60 days instead of 90 days. If she demonstrates natural ability and is enjoying race training, she will go back to full training at the track in the spring of 2021 after a relaxedwinter at home.
Brian works out of Highpointe Thoroughbred Farm in LaGrange, KY which is an exceptional thoroughbred training center located between Louisville and Lexington. The farm contains 235 acres of beautiful Kentucky land with three different training tracks. There is an outdoor 3/4 mile oval track of a typical sand and soil surface that is a registered work facility with Jockey Club certification for clocking qualifying work out times for Thoroughbreds. There is also an outdoor 3/4 uphill poly track that is made to insure a soft surface for the young horses in training. The third training area is a 81600 square foot indoor poly fiber training track and arena with a small apartment in the middle along with a dew holding stalls. Other improvements on the farm are 6 barns with 50 plus stalls each and an associated automatic walker for each barn, some are connected and/or close by. There is a superior office and veterinary complex which was designed for x-ray capabilities and a surgery suite as well as high quality stalls for horses and a laundry. The property includes several scenic fishing ponds that provide a quiet oasis on the farm.
